C.J. Stroud Autographs: Every Certified Signature Is a Topps Card

The most important fact in C.J. Stroud’s autograph market is a negative one: there are no Panini C.J. Stroud autograph cards. Not in National Treasures, not in Contenders, not anywhere in the 2023 Panini NFL lineup.

Why the market got this wrong

Two different rights, two different companies.

• Panini held the exclusive NFL and NFLPA licence from 2016 through the 2025 season. That covers Stroud’s image, Texans marks and NFL jersey material.
• Fanatics/Topps held Stroud’s autograph rights — and until the 2025 season Topps had no NFL licence at all, so everything it printed was unlicensed: airbrushed images, no team or league logos.

Panini could print Stroud all day and never sign him. Topps could sign him and never show a Texans logo. That is why every “flagship rookie autograph” assumption collectors carry over from other 2023 quarterbacks fails on Stroud.

The checklists confirm it. The 2023 Panini National Treasures Rookie Patch Autographs run is 41 cards /99 — the Texans entries are Will Anderson Jr. #194 and Tank Dell #201, and Stroud is absent. 2023 Panini Contenders Rookie Ticket RPS autographs for Houston go to Tank Dell #127 and Will Anderson Jr. #140; Stroud sits in the non-autographed Season Ticket base at #40.

Every product with a certified Stroud signature

2023 Topps Motif is the rookie-year on-card premium: six hard-signed cards per Hobby box, and the one place Stroud’s signature and a patch window share a rookie-year card (MRR-CS and its Dual, Triple and Quad Patch versions). 2025 Topps Chrome is the only place a signed Stroud card shows Texans marks.

The three cards that get mis-sold as Stroud autographs

1. 2023 Contenders Rookie Ticket Swatches #42. The words Rookie Ticket are printed on it. It is a jersey relic. There is no ink.
2. 2023 National Treasures patch relics. Colossal Materials #24 /49, Framed Fabric #10 /49, Rookie Dual Materials #5 /99, NFL Shields #5 1/1. Beautiful, scarce, licensed — and unsigned.
3. Draft-era and college signed cards. Real autographs, signed before he ever wore a Texans uniform, and not NFL rookie cards. The Ohio State and draft-pick guide covers that layer.

Read the card image, not the title. Sellers use “auto” and “RPA” as search keywords, not descriptions.

Buy smart on Stroud signatures

1. Certified or authenticated only. A factory Topps auto or a third-party-authenticated slab. Read how to spot a fake C.J. Stroud autograph first.
2. Know whether you want the logo. Licensed (2025 Topps Chrome) and unlicensed (2023–24 Topps) signed Strouds are different products at different prices. Do not comp one against the other.
3. On-card commands a premium over a sticker signature, all else equal.
4. Match the exact card code. BA-CS, BA-CST, FA-CJS, P-CJS, VCA-CJS and CG-CS are different cards from different years.
5. Sold comps only, and buy graded for anything expensive — the centering tool helps pre-screen a scan.
